Decree No. 6 of 2020
Concerning the Declaration of the State of Emergency
The President of the State of Palestine
The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation
In reference of the Bylaw of the Palestine Liberation Organisation,
The Amended Basic Law of 2003, as amended, particularly the provisions of Title VII thereunder,
In light of the extraordinary circumstances which the homeland is experiencing,
In pursuance of my constitutional duties of fully catering for the interests of the Palestinian people,
Based upon the powers vested in me, and
In pursuance of the public interest,
I hereby promulgate the following Decree:
Article 1
The state of emergency shall be declared for a period of thirty days throughout the Palestinian territory in order to confront the ongoing outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Article 2
The competent authorities shall continue to take all the measures necessary to address the risks resulting from the outbreak of the pandemic, protect public health, and achieve security and stability.
Article 3
The Prime Minister shall be authorised with the powers and competences necessary to achieve all the purposes of this Declaration.
Article 4
All the competent authorities, each one within its sphere of jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of this Decree, which shall enter into force as of July 5th, 2020, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
